Jorge Xolalpa is an award-winning filmmaker, writer, activist, and public speaker whose work amplifies the voices of immigrants and marginalized communities. Born in Mexico and raised in the United States, Jorge has lived much of his life “in between”—an experience that fuels both his art and his advocacy.
He is the founder of Mighty Aphrodite Pictures, a film production company, and the creative force behind critically acclaimed films such as Your Iron Lady (Amazon), Valentina (Apple TV+), Strangelove (Amazon & Revry), and Lolita, which is currently making its way through the international film festival circuit.
With this memoir Jorge turns the camera inward, sharing a raw and intimate portrait of survival, resilience, and identity. He lives in Los Angeles, where he continues to create films, teach the next generation of artists, advocate for immigrant rights, and speak publicly on issues of representation, resilience, and belonging.
